The best comedies on Hulu right now (April 2022)

Comedies are one of the oldest genres in film. That’s because the desire to laugh is universal, and the best comedies tap into that innate desire to let go of our daily lives and just roll with something fun for approximately 90 minutes to two hours. There may be humor in our everyday lives, but it’s a lot funnier to see misfortune and pratfalls happen to other people. There’s also a sense of security in a good comedy because no matter how dire things appear to be, we’re reasonably assured that it will conclude on a positive note. Or at least a good joke. Hulu has made some strides with its original movies, but the best comedies either come from 20th Century Studios or a few projects from other studios. Hulu lost a few good comedies this month but added a few more as well. To keep up to date, check out our list of the best comedies on Hulu right now.

If you want more than just Hulu, then keep in mind that everything you see here is also available as part of the Disney Bundle. That package includes Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, all for a single price of $14. It includes live sports alongside all of the Disney/Marvel/Star Wars/Pixar you can handle, with the additional benefit Hulu’s on-demand library. You won’t find a better offer than that.

Hulu isn’t the only platform with laughs on demand. Lucky for you, we’ve also put together guides to the best comedies on Netflix and the best comedies on Amazon Prime Video.

In Villains, Maika Monroe and Bill Skarsgård headline the film as Jules and Mickey, a wannabe modern-day Bonnie and Clyde. However, the duo finds their amorality challenged when they discover a young girl, Sweetiepie (Blake Baumgartner), chained in a basement. The homeowners, George (Jeffrey Donovan) and his wife, Gloria (Kyra Sedgwick), try to bribe Mickey and Jules into forgetting what they saw. When they refuse, the battle of wills between the two couples becomes increasingly heated in this offbeat black comedy.
